 Our Founders
Through business, Brad and Tanya Zumwalt met Paul Brainerd, founder of the Social Venture Partners concept. The unique model of supporting the community appealed to them, and in fall 2000, the Zumwalt's launched Social Venture Partners Calgary, the first SVP in Canada.

In 1998, Brad founded EyeWire.com, an online graphics and design company which, in 1999, was acquired by Getty Images. That same year, the Alberta Science and Technology Foundation recognized EyeWire's e-commerce success when it was awarded the ASTech award for Outstanding Commercial Achievement. In March 1999, Brad was recognized as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 honourees. In November 2001, the Zumwalts were among those awarded Calgary's fifth annual Generosity of Spirit award for services to Calgary's community.

Brad is currently president of Zinc Ventures, where he invests in local technology companies. He is also a director of several small technology companies.
 Our Supporters
Social Venture Partners Calgary owes thanks to The Calgary Foundation and the United Way for ongoing support and guidance. Both organizations provided guidance to us in our start up, and we remain a donor advised fund of The Calgary Foundation.

We also owe thanks to Jack MacKenzie, a philanthropist and visionary who passed away in June 2003. Mr. MacKenzie read about SVP Seattle's start up and immediately worked to initiate SVP Arizona (where he spent part of the year) and Calgary (his home town). Thank you for your legacy Jack!
