Our grant cycle for 2005-06 will involve the
following process:
- Background Research. Our Investment Committee will first
endeavor to identify emerging social issues related to Calgary's
children and youth. This will be done through a series of education
sessions conducted with experts in the field. Once the Committee has
narrowed down the issue area it wishes to focus on, they will then try
to find those local agencies who are tackling that particular issue.
Those agencies will then be invited to submit a Letter of Intent to
apply for funding.
- Letter of Intent. We will invite a select group of
non-profits to submit a two-page Letter of Intent. This is designed to
spark our interest in your organization and its programs, and make a
compelling statement of why you need SVP Calgary's support.
- Full Proposal. Our Investment Committee reviews the Letters
of Intent, and using criteria, determines a short list of applicants
that we will invite to submit full proposals. These proposals are a
detailed summary of your organization, its programs and how you will use
SVP Calgary's support. Prior to writing the full proposal, the
short-listed applicants will be invited to attend an information session
with SVP Calgary staff to learn more about our model of engaged
philanthropy and whether such a partnership with us is a good fit for
their organization.
- Site Visits. Our Investment Committee narrows down the field
further, selecting approximately four non-profits to conduct site
visits. This is an opportunity for Partners to see first-hand the
operations of a non-profit, and meet key leaders, including a
non-profits Executive Director, management team and board members.
- Announcement. SVP Calgary celebrates its new investment with
a Partner and Investee reception and media event.
