The Experience

SVP Calgary offers a three-pronged approach to giving.

Partner Engagement strengthens the organizational capacity of SVP Calgary
and our selected Investees by adding expertise, including:

Volunteering

Investment Committee
Each year, October through April, our Investment Committee meets regularly to delve into the world of Calgary nonprofits.  The Partners hear from local experts and frontline staff about the most pressing issues facing children and youth in the community.

Lead partner and Partner volunteers
Each Investee is supported by a Lead Partner who liases between the nonprofit organization and SVP Calgary.  The Lead Partner serves as a trusted advisor, sounding board, and idea generator, while accessing the talents of the other Partners and their extended network.

Partner Education

Investee & Community Events
From casino nights to book sales, our Investees offer our community a variety of ways to get involved.  Attending Investee events allows our Partners to support the nonprofit community and their fundraising efforts.  SVP Calgary is proud to promote the events of our Investees through our monthly communications.

Philanthropic Hot Topics
Its not always easy to dive into a new industry or sector.  That's why we highlight hot topics and current events from around the nonprofit sector in our newsletter and blog.  Reading a sector report or commenting on a blog post can be some of the first steps to becoming a knowledgable philanthropist.

Financial Investments

Grant and Graduation Celebration
At the beginning of the summer, the Investment Committee completes their hard work with the announcement of SVP's funding decisions for the year.  This is also the time when we honor our graduating Investees and the Partners who have contributed to their successes.  We take this time to celebrate a year of achievements.

Annual General Meeting
Each fall, the Partners come together for an update on the organization, a financial overview, and to learn about new opportunities to engage.  And with the business aside, Partners and Investees share their stories, successes, and challenges - bridging the for- and non-profit sectors.
