Social Venture Partners Calgary (SVP Calgary), a Calgary-based non-profit, operating on an engaged philanthropy model, will present $110,000 in grants to three Investees and will announce the graduation of two local non-profits during a celebration at 100 Wines this evening.
Committed to youth and education around the region, SVP Calgary makes multi-year, capacity-building grants to local non-profits aligned with SVP’s engaged philanthropy model. For Investees, these grants are opportunities to further build the capacity and skills of their organization. For SVP Calgary’s Partners, who donate not only money but also time and expertise, it is an invaluable opportunity to engage in the not for profit sector.
This year, SVP renews its financial commitment to EvenStart Foundation, Calgary Youth Justice Society, and Connections Counselling and Consulting Foundation. After a multi-year tenure with SVP Calgary, Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids and Calgary Urban Vibe are graduating from SVP’s funding.
“We are proud of our partnerships with Brown Bagging and Urban Vibe. While they are graduating from SVP’s funding, we will remain an ally and supporter of their work,” Michele Fugiel Gartner, Executive Director commented.
Since 2000, SVP Calgary has raised $1.55 million for direct investment with 14 Investees and provided thousands of hours of volunteer time and expertise to those non-profit organizations.
SVP Calgary believes that a thriving community requires engaged philanthropy. As an advocate for private giving, SVP Calgary believes that individual action is a powerful mechanism to achieve positive social change. As a community connector, SVP Calgary envisions a community where giving - financial, time, or voice - is accessible and acceptable for all to join.
