Everything hinges on our story.
We offer children and youth in need hope and opportunity by providing essential nutrients necessary for healthy growth and development. We act as a catalyst in the development of community-based solutions to break down barriers caused by malnutrition.
We were convinced that if individuals, businesses, corporations and foundations were aware of the issue of child hunger in Calgary, they would not be able to ignore the tragedy. We also believed that if we left room for the as yet unimagined solutions to arise that magic would happen. Magic has happened and more amazing possibilities continue to unfold.
Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids Society (BB4CK) needed to be able to take the time to tell the story in a relevant and compelling fashion. Financial resources provided by SVP Calgary allowed us to create an infrastructure with the Kids Help Kids campaign and subsequent Make it Your Problem initiative that has acted as an evolution of engagement tool.
SVP's courage to fund a message rather than a concrete purchase or program has allowed BB4CK to be more entrepreneurial in our approach and response to storytelling. We have told and listened and then retold the story because of the feedback that we have received. In all the stories, we have turned the service delivery model slightly on its head and challenged listeners to 'get it'. The SVP Calgary Investment Committee and involved Partner 'get it'.
The exposure and relevance of our story has taken BB4CK from a struggling charity that was questioning its own relevance to a well-funded recognized voice in the community. Volunteers, supporters, donors, media and kids come to us with offers to help us communicate the message. Through the generous and ongoing of SVP Calgary and some significant contributions from individual partners our financial capacity, operational goals, evaluation and vision have all increased.
As our formal relationship is nearing an end it seems appropriate that our most significant change that we have experienced over the past three years is in the area where SVP Calgary trusted us to excel. We now have a great story and thousands of people who are listening for the next chapter.
